There are a plethora of therapists in London so before you consult a therapist it is imperative to know more about him/her. I would like to take this opportunity to give you a better idea of who I am. If you want a breakdown of my credentials go HERE
I have been a practising as a hypnotherapist since 1989 and as a psychotherapist since 1995. I hold many accreditations but believe that accreditation with the UK Council for Psychotherapy is the gold standard for therapists. This is the accreditation a client should look for when consulting a psychotherapist or hypno-psychotherapist. Training programmes they accredit are a minimum of 4 years in length at Masters Degree Level. I have completed two of these programmes, in 1995 with the Centre Training School of Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy and in 2007 with the National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy. I had the honour of UKCP Accreditation since 1996.
In addition to my psychotherapy qualifications I also earned qualifications in hypnotherapy in 1989 (American College of Clinical Hypnosis), 1994 (London College of Clinical Hypnosis) and 2003 from the Hypnotism Training Institute of Los Angeles. Additionally I hold a US Nationally Accredited Diploma in Hypnotherapy from the Hypnosis Motivation Institute (2010) and was the co-creator of the NCFE Accredited Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (2002).
In addition to UKCP, I am an accredited psychotherapist with the European Association for Psychotherapy, European Association for Hypno-Psychotherapy, and World Council for Psychotherapy, and a CNHC and NSHP Registered Hypnotherapist. Additionally, I am a UKASFP Accredited Solution Focused Practitioner and a UKCP Registered Clinical Supervisor. I am also a trained EMDR(Eye Movement De-Sensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy)Therapist and am a Member of the EMDR Association UK and Ireland.
In 2012, I became an Advisor on Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy to theInstitute for Complementary and Natural Medicine. Since 1989, I have undertaken over 6000 hours of clinical training in addition to conducting over 23,000 client sessions.
For those who have private medical insurance, I am recognised by BUPA for psychotherapeutic referrals. My provider number is 30011817. I am the co-founder of the National Society of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy a professional association recognised by the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council and the current Principal of the National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy, the oldest hypnotherapy/psychotherapy training institute in the UK. I am the 5th Principal since the College was founded in 1977.
My therapeutic approach is non judgmental and integrative which means that I utilise a variety of therapeutic approaches and philosophies in order to assist my clients to achieve their goals. I tend to be solution focused, which means that I look at solutions as opposed to problems in order to help my clients move forward. This is not to say that we do not look at the problems or issues that are causing concern, but rather than to focus on those, I believe that looking at the solutions rather than the problems makes the therapeutic experience more positive for the client. Rest assured, I only use approaches that have been proven to be effective. That proof is demonstrated in clinical and academic journals as well as through anecdotal evidence of over 24 years of clinical practice.
